The whole game is about setting up the premise to have interesting sequels, but they forgot to make the first one good enough to ensure that sequels would actually get made. Sadly, other than the solid combat the game just doesn't really do much story wise, with a mediocre villain and equally lazy "ancient mysterious race" that conveniently is the solution to all your troubles. If the overall story had been solid enough I may have been able to look past a lot of the issues (ME1 had really mediocre combat, but I enjoyed the worlds, the quests, the characters, and story enough to replay it many, many times). Click to expand.The premise is great and would have been an amazing jumping off point for another Trilogy, but the many technical issues at launch, the mediocre voice acting, worse writing, bad facial animations (better than at launch, but still mediocre for a series that exceed at that when it first came out), and uninteresting side quests made this the first Mass Effect game that I may never replay.
